Disney World is going through a massive transformation.
There’s always something being constructed or refurbished – no matter how big or small the project might be. Things are always changing, and it can be hard to keep up. Luckily, we like to stay up to date on all that goes on at Disney World, so here are the biggest construction updates from this week!
TRON: Lightcycle Run
Last week, we got a pretty exciting update when we caught a glimpse of the TRON ride vehicles being tested, and then Disney shared a look at the first full-speed test run for this coaster.
On a recent ride on the PeopleMover, we spotted some additional material being added to the tunnel where the Walt Disney World Railroad will run.
Disney hasn’t shared an opening date for this attraction quite yet, so stay tuned for updates!

Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana
We saw the first rocks move into place at this attraction not too long ago, but now it looks like even more rocks are being moved in.
Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana is the first water-based walkthrough attraction to come to EPCOT, and Disney is keeping the opening timeline to themselves for nowbut they did share some updated concept art recently!

The pavement in the Japan Pavilion has been undergoing some routine refurbishments and maintenance on and off for a while now, and it looks like that is still continuing.
Crews are working on one section at a time, so it shouldn’t impact your visit – but we’ll let you know if that changes!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Toy Story Mania Gift Shop
Construction has been well underway at what once was the Toy Story Mania Gift Shop. Disney closed the doors earlier this year and they’ve been keeping quiet about what we can expect once the location reopens.
For now, guests have to take a detour after exiting the popular attraction. We’re keeping an eye on this progress and will let you know about any major updates.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
Back in the beginning of March, Disney began construction on the new DVC Villas that are coming to the Grand Floridian Resort. The Big Pine Key building is slowly but surely being transformed into 200 new villas.
Disney has shared that the new villas are scheduled to be completed later this summerbut we will let you know if that changes!

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Much like Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, the Polynesian Village Resort is also undergoing a transformation.
Several areas of the property are walled off due to construction on brand-new villas that are expected to be completed in late 2024. This week, we spotted what appears to be a cement truck on the property along with some workers.
We’re keeping a close eye on the progress of the new villas, so don’t forget to stay tuned!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort
The exterior resurfacing work continues at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and although we’re not totally sure what’s going on here it appears to just be some minor refurbishment.
We’ll keep you updated on this project and let you know if it could impact your next trip to the Contemporary!
Caribbean Beach Resort
Good news for guests of this moderate resort – the Martinique Village Pool is open to visitors once again!
It had to be closed for a little while for some routine maintenance and refurbishments, but luckily it’s open again – just in time for those hot Florida summer days!
